ABOUT
Jeremy Brophy is the Director of Flint Planning Limited, a New Plymouth based consultancy that specialises in Resource Management Act approvals, strategy and expert advisory services.
A Principal Planner (often referred to as 'Pou Taiao' a ‘Town Planner’ or ‘Environmental Planner’), Jeremy has more than 18 years’ experience in both local government and private consultancy in New Zealand. Prior to forming Flint Planning Limited he has held management and leadership roles in multidisciplinary consulting businesses in New Plymouth, Hamilton and Wellington. He has worked on development projects with a variety of District and Regional Plans throughout New Zealand.
Jeremy is an excellent communicator, and has worked closely with local Councils, hapū, iwi, other consultants and technical experts for many years to achieve the best possible outcomes. He is a specialist in leading multi-disciplinary teams, preparation of resource consent applications and processing of resource consent applications, completing stakeholder consultation, undertaking policy preparation and providing policy advice. Depending on project requirements Jeremy has a network of sub-consultants that are able to assist including surveyors, engineers, ecologists and landscape architects.
Jeremy was raised on a dairy farm in the small coastal Taranaki settlement of Warea. He is proud to be from Taranaki and is regularly involved in consenting of complex developments which enhance and shape our local communities.
He holds a Bachelor of Resource and Environmental Planning (Hons) from Massey University, is a Full Member of the New Zealand Planning Institute, and current Central North Island Committee Member for Taranaki. Jeremy is also a member of the New Zealand Resource Management Law Association and is qualified as an Independent Hearings Commissioner (being a Panel Commissioner Certificate Holder).
Jeremy resides in New Plymouth, with his wife Katherine and two young boys. His interests include camping, fishing, golf and the general outdoors. You will often find him coaching his sons football and basketball teams and supporting from the side lines. Of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga and Irish decent, he is ‘in the waka’ on his Te Reo Māori journey.
